For Colored Girls...A Must See!!

If you haven’t went and seen “For Colored Girls” you are really missing out. Its Tyler Perry’s adaptation on the play by Ntozake Shange's "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf”. The movie has a great cast of black actresses including Janet Jackson, Kerry Washington, Loretta Devine, Anika Noni Rose, Kimberly Elise, Phylicia Rashad and Thandie Newton. (Almost any movie that has Janet in it I’m going to see, I think she’s a wonderful actress, I’ve loved her since “Poetic Justice” ) The movie is based upon the relationships that the women have had with the black men in their lives. Without telling you how the movie unfolds I will just let you know that one relationship involves domestic violence, another involves a woman always taking back a cheater, while still another deals with a woman who has many different sex partners on a regular basis. This movie was so moving, I swear I almost cried 3 times. It was so touching because I could honestly see people I know and even myself in some of these characters, it was that realistic. We as black women honestly take a lot from our black men and we should start thinking about our own well being first. “For Colored Girls” was very deep and factual, unlike most of Tyler Perry’s movies. Perry really redeemed himself when he made this movie. The world we live in is full of it…By: Megan Chase www.twitter.com/meganchase1

I just hope you don't think ALL black men are like how they were portrayed in this movie.

Horrible stuff happened to Antwon Fisher, and stuff like that DOES happen in our community, but i could never say "Black women are evil b/c of this"...

I take everyone on a case by case basis. Too bad the last 20 yrs have been so bad for relationships. We used to have better relations in the 60s and before then because WE ONLY had each other.

I agree with you, I dont feel like all black men are like this but I also feel as though most of the black women that i know have been through at least one of these situations. And as a blk woman in this society I feel as though some blk men dont respect blk woman how they do women of another culture... www.twitter.com/meganchase1

the movie through me for a loop...they didn't show one positive black girl...but I heard it was based on a book...and why does Tyler perry constantly have the dudes nude or close To it in all his movies?....hmmmm

@anonymous you are right..did you read my post about tyler perry when he was on Oprah? lmao... I notice that too, always a fine ass man with no shirt on. It was a little disconnected as far as the way it was directed but arent all tyler perry films? I thought it was a well wrote movie though and touched on a lot of realistic issues, usually perry's films r unbelievable so i applaud him on trying to do a realistic movie

i will go bk and read that...and the only reason why it was even close to being realistic is because it was from a previous screen play but of course after tyler read it....he just knew if would be close enough to that over the top crazy dramatic issues he has in a majoritiy of his films.......
